My year abroad in Australia was only made possible because of their working holiday visa. These visas provide an opportunity to live and work in another country for a year and offer a range of benefits for young people eager to explore the world and gain valuable life experiences.
I started to really feel it this week, as I realized that I didn’t have anywhere to be or a schedule I needed to adhere to. Don’t get me wrong, the freedom has been great and has given me the opportunity to really think about how I want to spend the next year.
I'm spending the first 5 weeks in Hillsdale, a suburb in southern Sydney. This week, I spent a lot of time exploring my new neighborhood and getting familiar with the bus routes.
All packed and ready to go! The weeks leading up to my departure included many teary eyed goodbyes and repacking of my suitcases. I managed to pack three checked bags, one carry-on and a backpack, which totaled over 200 pounds thanks to the vacuum bags.
